IPAMORELIN

A selective growth hormone secretagogue

Performance & GHSingle

In Plain English

Ghrelin is the hormone that makes you hungry, and it also triggers growth hormone release. Older compounds that targeted this system produced both effects, plus unwanted cortisol and prolactin increases. Ipamorelin was engineered to hit the growth hormone trigger cleanly and leave the rest mostly alone.

What people use it for. The same goals as CJC-1295 — recovery, body composition, sleep — and virtually always in combination with it.

What to know before you buy. Ipamorelin's selling point is what it avoids. Earlier compounds in its class also raised cortisol, which is counterproductive if you are trying to recover, and caused significant hunger. Ipamorelin largely does not, at sensible doses. As with the whole growth hormone category, it demonstrably raises the hormone; nobody has demonstrated in controlled trials that this produces the body composition changes people are buying it for.

What It's Used For

GoalWhat that rests on
Growth hormone supportReliably raises GH in published pharmacological work
No cortisol spikeSelective for GHS-R1a — minimal cortisol, prolactin and ACTH effect at typical doses
No hunger surgeSubstantially less appetite stimulation than other ghrelin agonists such as GHRP-6
Pairs with CJC-1295Separate receptor pathways, so the two add rather than overlap

Regulatory status

This compound was not on the July 2026 PCAC agenda. Its regulatory status is unchanged by that hearing, and reports about peptides being “cleared” in July 2026 do not apply to it. Treat its status as independent. Ipamorelin remains not FDA-approved and is not on the 503A bulks list.

Why Selectivity Matters

Cortisol elevation works against most of the reasons people use a growth hormone secretagogue in the first place — it is catabolic, it impairs recovery and it disrupts sleep. Prolactin elevation carries its own unwanted effects. Earlier secretagogues such as GHRP-6 raised both. Ipamorelin’s comparatively clean profile at typical doses is the reason it displaced them.

Why it is paired with CJC-1295

Ipamorelin acts on the ghrelin receptor; CJC-1295 acts on the GHRH receptor. Because they engage separate pathways, the combination is expected to produce a larger release than either alone. This is a reasonable mechanistic argument — but the combination itself has not been formally studied for outcomes, which is the same caveat that applies to every blend in this range.

Evidence Position

Ipamorelin reliably raises growth hormone in published pharmacological work; that part is well established. What is not established is that the resulting elevation translates into meaningful changes in body composition, recovery or healthspan in healthy adults. No large controlled outcome trials exist, and it has no approved indication in any major market.

The bottom line

The cleanest-profiled compound in the growth hormone secretagogue category, chosen for selectivity rather than potency. Demonstrated biomarker effect, no demonstrated outcome benefit. Unaffected by the July 2026 hearing.
